And called on the United Nations Mission in Kosovo "Unmik", to cooperate fully with the mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Kosovo, and to ensure that those who exercise their right to vote to do so in a peaceful and safe atmosphere.
She commended the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, the commitment of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to facilitate the voting process and in accordance with Security Council resolution 1244 - adopted in 1999 after the end of the fighting in Kosovo.
States that the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon praised in the past month the progress made in the dialogue brokered by the European Union between Serbia and Kosovo, to achieve peace and stability in the region.
The conflict between Kosovo and Serbia over the control of two border crossings in northern Kosovo from frequent violent clashes between the local Serb population, and troops led by NATO in Kosovo, and the tension eased after the resumption of dialogue.
